April 18 – 19, 2024 in 6th Grade ELA Writing Class

Good Morning,

We will be watching the Netflix movie “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” in my classes for the next two days.  It is a true story about a fourteen year old boy from Malawi that is very interested in physics and sciences.  When his country and surrounding areas in Africa are suffering from an extreme drought, he finds a way to “save the day.’

The movie is rated TV-PG.  If you have an issue with your son/daughter watching this, an alternative assignment will be given to them with NO penalty.  I think this movie tells an amazing story about a young boy who uses his abilities to help his country through a VERY serious time.

We will be working on a project next week after we watch this in class.

Below is a link to the trailer for the movie if you want to check it out.
