Friday: Inference/6.03/using video clips “infer” what is going to happen

October 9 – 13 (End of the first Nine Weeks)

Monday: Vocabulary Review, including the 8 parts of speech/6.02/Kahoot.it

Tuesday: Final review for Nine Week Test/6.02/answer questions, give examples, etc. about the test

Wednesday: Nine Week Test/6.02/ We will take our Nine Week Test

Thursday: Pronouns and Antecedents/6.02/find pronouns and their antecedent in the sentences

6th Grade ELA Writing Nine Week Test Study Notes

All of my classes cleaned out their class folder/notebook today.      

I gave them the information that they need to study for 

the Nine Week Test in my class.  The test date is October 11th.

We will review ALL of the information over the next two weeks 

in my classes, HOWEVER these items need to be studied at home,

also.

PLEASE make sure your son/daughter brings their ELA Writing folder/notebook

with them to class tomorrow.  We will be cleaning out our folders and getting notes

for the NINE WEEK TEST that is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11th in ALL my

ELA Writing classes.  I will be giving them a paper copy of the notes and putting it on

Google Classroom, as well.

6th Grade ELA Writing September 11th – 15th

I am SO ready for some cooler temperatures.  We have our first Middle School Pep Rally and football games this Thursday at home.  Volleyball plays at home on Monday, as well.

Monday: Remembering 9 – 11/ 6.2/Watching a short video about 9-11 and then writing a Journal Entry

 Tuesday: Parts of Speech/6.02/Activity reviewing Parts of Speech

Advance Classes: Google Site/6.05/We will be learning how to create a                                                                                                                                             WOMS “Newspaper” which we will be producing on a bi-weekly basis.

                       Wednesday: Parts of Speech/6.01/Activity reviewing Parts of Speech (cont.);

Thursday: Vocabulary List 2/6.04/We will use Kahoots to review these words.

Friday:  Photo Description 3/6.01/Writing with more details and descriptive

words; using adverbs and adjectives.

I had fun this past Saturday watching my new 6th Grade boys playing football and some of the girls cheering them on.

Week of September 5 – 8, 2023

Monday – No School due to Labor Day

Tuesday – Parts of Speech: Subject/Verb Agreement/6.1A, 6.1B/We will review the rules of singular/plural subjects and verbs and how to make them agree when writing sentences; we will complete a worksheet

Wednesday – Journal Entry: Describe your favorite thing to eat.; Mystery Reading/6.1C/In small groups we will read and try to solve the mysteries with Detective Hanson.

Thursday – Subject-Verb Agreement assignment; Vocabulary List 2 and Flashcards/6.2A/We will discuss these new words and create flashcards for each word.

Friday – Journal Entry: Who is your favorite singer and why?; introduce SCOPE/6.1A/We will explore the SCOPE Scholastic Magazine.

*If your son/daughter has ANY missing assignments they need to complete them. I am in my room every morning at 7:30 and will GLADLY help them in any way I can.

**We only have three more weeks until the first report card.

***Your son/daughter should have an ELA Writing folder with papers we have done as a class, returned graded papers, and vocabulary flashcards inside.  We will keep all those papers until the end of the 9 WEEK GRADING period to use as study notes for our tests.  We will review for the test and I will post what needs to be studied on my blog.
